Picnic in a Villa Overlooking Vineyards – Treviso, Veneto

There’s no shortage of Venetian Villas. Many have welcomed poets and artists, monarchs and statesmen, scholars and aesthetes, travellers and tourists from all over the world. Even today, Veneto is home to many villas of pure beauty that inspire, enrich and uplift visitors.

In this experience, nobility and the countryside are combined in a captivating cultural and sensory experience.

The villa was built in the second half of the 17th century at the behest of the patrician Venetian Giustiniani family.

Even back then, wine “in caneva” was produced and shipped by river to Venice.

When the property passed to the Querini, production expanded with the breeding of silkworms. Count Querini’s silk won the medal for the best silk at the World Expo in London in 1851.

The next owners, in addition to breeding silkworms also established a thousand-hectare farm.

During the world war, the villa was occupied and bombarded. Its former glory was only recently restored.

Today, as in the past, the villa houses the ageing cellars, the small Osteria, the wine shop with culinary delicacies, and the museum of rural civilisation.

Following the guided tour, a farmer’s snack will be prepared for tasting in the vineyard.
