After a guided tour of the beautiful village of Scopello, consisting of a central part with the “baglio”, and the outer part where Piazza Nettuno lies with the small Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and a stone drinking trough in the centre, the group can enjoy a tasting of the typical “pane cunzato”.
The experience includes a visit to the Scopello Tuna Fishery which was initially built in the 13th century, then enlarged and modified several times throughout history. Together with a guide, participants will explore the value of this location, its history and the sacrifice of the men who practised tuna fishing “the old-fashioned way”.
Scopello is the gateway to visit the wonderful Zingaro Reserve, a fantastic stretch of unspoilt coastline spanning seven kilometres from Castellammare del Golfo to San Vito lo Capo. The group will reach the entrance to the reserve by bus, accompanied by a nature guide, and make their way to spectacular beaches for a sunset swim.
